Excellent story. I wish the author wrote another book....

I kept hoping that Cassie would bite the dust. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because there wasn't quite as much material beyond the "101" stuff as I had hoped. It's difficult to express quite how I feel about this book as I am still in awe that I got the opportunity to read this account and compare it to my experiences now. In fact, much of the charm of the story comes as much from the lovely extended dialogues as it does from the narrative, the premises of the plot, the revelations that build up slowly (including a Big Secret), not to mention all the careful research that shows through in the descriptions of a bath in a London brothel and other seedy areas. In the past forty years there have been scores of books published about that conflict, both fiction and non-fiction. The last portion of the book concentrates on recipes utilizing the information from the earlier chapters along with preparation hints.
