I read about Mark Anastasi's background and I decided to buy the book; firstly because I like "rag to riches" stories and secondly because it would get me ready to get the most benefit from the free event. Love this era of Chester Gould and Dick Tracy. The artwork is fantastic; it is more "primitive" than the newer, more stylistic stuff, but it is also more detailed and full of raw energy and character....

The story is told by a mother who, despite living with a creature who “never takes a bath,” knows her great big scary monster is smart, kind, and caring and finds his less civilized traits endearing. They look, look, look at the painting and see that it has patterns, colors, lines, and shapes. The collection addresses everything from Thomas Wolfe’s powerful legacy to the town’s celebrated Art Deco architecture, from struggles with development to the stark realities of Asheville’s Jim Crow past, from personal histories to its reputation as a nexus of the arts and all things cutting-edge. If you haven't read book one or two Intertwined and Unraveled don't worry I'm not going to spoil anything just try not to read the synopsis above.
